PIs: Larry Baker and Carissa Schively-Slotterback

Sponsors:  NSF, the McKnight Foundation, the U of M Center for Urban and Regional Affairs and the U of M Center for Transportation Research

The goal of the Twin Cites Urban Sustainability (TCUS) Forum is (1) to strengthen and expand linkages among the practitioners and academics involved in urban sustainability (US) and urban ecosystems (UE) in the Twin Cities and (2) to develop a framework for “translational research” – research that would connect the sustainability goals of Minnesota’s urban communities with research and outreach at the University of Minnesota.

We are planning the main event,  a two-day TCUS Forum, to be held Nov. 2-3, 2011 at the University of Minnesota.  The symposium will feature talks by leading thinkers and practitioners of urban sustainability from Minnesota and throughout the world, discussion panels, and small group workshops.

A series of smaller workshops held over the year after the symposium will synthesize these ideas into a framework for translational research.
