Research Themes

Much of my research over the past 15 years has been focused on the study of cities as “urban ecosystems” from a perspective of urban biogeochemistry – understanding the sources and fate of pollutants such as nutrients and salts.  Nearly all of my research is done in interdisciplinary teams that generally include not only engineers and ecologists, but also social scientists from various disciplines.
